Students on the WellBase Youth Advisory Board strive to educate others about various wellness topics within the Kinkaid community and also serve the local refugee community by coordinating Kinkaid Community Service events each month with our nonprofit partners.

The pilot site was created in January 2022. Below is a letter of thanks to all those who contributed to the WellBase effort!

Thanks to all of my mentors who, through valuable meetings and emails, helped me along the path of creating this site:

  • Ms. Christa Forster, for spending so many hours with me on this effort and especially for formally introducing me to the practice of mindfulness, which I not only utilized throughout this process but learned more about through creating this web resource.

  • Dr. Kirti Saxena, for taking me on as your research team member and your support and help in navigating the scientific research process.

  • Dr. Jay Glynn, for always being a listening ear.

  • Ms. Meg Lauck, for sharing your experiences, perspectives, and counsel with me.

  • Ms. Cheryl Mitchell and Ms. Jennifer Haynes, for being so open to integrating the site into your classes and for spending an hour of your time with me as I took you through the WellBase adventure :)

  • And most of all, to my parents, who have always been there to support me and guide me along the way. Thank you for always encouraging me along the way, as you do for all the journeys I take.

And thanks to the following contributors, who, whether in the form of student art, music, or participation in videos, made WellBase what it is today.

  • Neelan Shah, ’29, for your amazing soccer drills!

  • Ava Courville, ’24, for your eagerness to help and your diligence as we navigated the creation of multiple iterations of the sleep video.

  • Wende Wang, ’24, for your willingness to learn and incredible comic timing.

  • Catherine Moursund, ’24, for your patience with Wende and me, your salsa skills, and for your awesome voiceover in our Texas Children’s project.

  • Kaveen Shah, ’24, for your awesome (if a bit late) Spotify playlist, and for your infinite supply of jokes.

  • Shaivi Moparthi, ’27, Ginny Filippone, ‘25, and Caroline Pielop, ‘25, for your beautiful artwork.

  • James Prendergast, ’24, and Jocelyn Reyes, ’25, for sharing your love for tennis.

  • Jaisal Kalapatapu and Sam Ferber, ’23 and ‘25, for your great voice-overs.

  • Patrick Reilly, ’24, for sharing your guitar skills.

  • Siddharth Agarwala, ’24, for your salad-making prowess and bravery on two wheels.

  • Cole Hartung, ‘24, for showing us your “need for speed.”

  • Tiffany Zhang, ’25, and Julia Nguyen, ‘24, for absolutely killing those piano pieces.

  • Sana Ghauri, ‘23, Walker Bruce, ‘23, and Madison Doan, ‘23, for sharing your sewing skills.

  • Taylor McMullen, ‘23, and Jack Lemon, ‘23, for showing us your culinary genius!

  • Oliver Oldham, ’24, for your out-of-this-world bladesmithing video.

  • Ryan Hay, ‘24, for sharing with us your superb animation skills and being so committed as we created our Texas Children’s videos.

And thanks to Mr. Chastain, Ms. Ellis, Ms. Clancy, Ms. Cable, or as she likes to be credited, JLo :), Ms. Shea, and Ms. Stutts, for opening your interim term classes to my tripod and video camera.

Finally, thank you to all those who visit and utilize the site. Your presence makes this journey all the more worth it! I hope you enjoy your time on WellBase!

Stay well,

Eshaan Mani
