Wellness Corner 57: Art for the Heart

by Maithreyi Asthagiri, Student Wellness Advisory Board member

Hey, Falcons!

As we approach the middle of National Arts Month, I want to take this time to dive into the importance of art in our lives. Art can come in many different ways. Some find calmness in the quiet sound of the paintbrush or a rhythm when shading in a drawing. Others might find that they are joyous or uplifted when singing or performing as they own the stage. What do all these things have in common?

They all bring calmness, serenity, peace of mind, and happiness. Kinkaid does an excellent job of making art a structural part of each student's life. While some students perform, the many events put on by classmates can also be viewed and appreciated.

So, I invite all of you to take a moment to be introspective/mindful and think about what kinds of art bring you joy. Hopefully, you can make time to see it through, and when you do, notice how you feel before, during, and after.

Be well,

Maithreyi
