Wellness Corner 52: Quiet Thriving

Hey Falcons,

We just hit ONE YEAR’s worth of Wellness Corners! 🎉🥳 So glad to have this platform to share cool wellness/health stuff with y’all.

Ok ok…enough celebration. In classic fashion, let’s jump right in.

Have you ever attempted to "quiet thrive?” It’s what many have called the buzzword of 2023, but quiet thriving could actually help you gain satisfaction from school, an internship, or a job. Psychotherapist Lelsey Alderman wrote that “quiet thriving” means actively making changes to your day to shift your mental state and help you feel more engaged in what you’re doing.

Sure, at Kinkaid, as at all schools, there are certain things we can’t change. We can’t just skip WHAP or Calculus because we’re not in the mood. What we can do as students is incorporate habits in our daily routines that bring us joy and help us take control of our well-being.

For me, that’s taking a walk around the school in our 15-minute morning break; I sometimes drag a friend or two along. Many students use their free periods or study halls to eliminate some of the work they would otherwise have done late at night after sports practice/arts rehearsals; others use free periods to decompress or work on passion projects. How will you “quiet thrive?” Let me know via email or in the halls!

Stay well,

Eshaan
